Lacey is planning to light up for the holidays this year, and everyone in the town is invited.
First up on the schedule is the Lighted Parade of Vehicles. Everyone including individuals, organizations, clubs, and businesses are welcome to take part, but there are many rules entrants need to follow. Among these are the following: entries must be motorized vehicles or pulled by a motorized vehicle, and all entries must have at least 1,000 lights on them. A few strings of lights will not be accepted, neither will simply turning on the vehicle’s lights.
No one may jump off a vehicle or throw things to the crowd, and the only Santa Claus permitted in the parade is the official parade Santa, no one else.
Everyone is encouraged to follow the parade to Huntamer Park, where the next item on the agenda is the Annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree, and lights throughout the park. Santa Claus himself will be the special guest at this event, taking photos with families and chatting with everyone during the tree lighting. The lights will remain up throughout the month of December, and visitors to the park can tune their car radios to hear Santa read stories, and hear music courtesy of local students.
Light Up Lacey is scheduled for December 4, with the parade starting at 6.30pm. The parade will take place no matter the weather. When this type of event is planned, organizers can work with banner printing to create appropriate seasonal decorations.
