Lacey helps vets get to appointments

Veterans and members of their families will be able to get to their medical appoints at no cost, as a new service is now available to help transport them. The Lacey Veterans Services Hub recently announced it will make a van available to take veterans from the hub to the VA Medical Center, located at American Lake.

The service will operate three days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The free shuttle will leave the Veterans Hub, which is on the Lacey campus of the South Puget Sound Community College, at 8.05 am. There is no scheduled time for the van to leave the Medical Center; rather, it will return when everyone has finished their appointments. If a veteran rides the Thurston County Rural & Tribal Transportation System, he or she can meet the van at Tumwater Square at 7.50 am, rather than going to the campus. The square is on Cleveland Avenue.

Veterans will need to reserve a spot on the van and can do so by calling the Lacey Veterans Services Hub at (360) 456-3850. They need to call 24 hours ahead of the time they need the ride, at a minimum. Passengers without reservations will be served as space permits.
