Lacey has vacancy on Historical Commission

Lacey officials recently announced that there is a vacancy on one of the city's commissions.

The Lacey City Council would like to fill the spot on the city's Historical Commission, and is asking qualified people to apply. The ideal applicant is a professional individual who has a background in American studies, planning, architecture, or history. Business Cards are often printed in situations like this when a new person joins a team.

The duties of the members of the Historical Commission are spelled out in the Lacey Municipal Code. Among the commission's responsibilities, it is called upon to:

Adopt procedures and policies to operate the Lacey museum and activities related to it;
Join with the museum curator to supervise all property belonging to the city, or loaned to it, which has historical significance. These may include literature, news clippings, slides, photos, collections, artifacts, and any other material pertinent to the city's history; and
Advise the city council as it determines which matters are historically relevant to the city's planning process.

The commission meets monthly, at 6.00 pm on the third Wednesday. Members of the Historical Commission serve terms of three years, and there is a limit of two terms. Interested applicants have to live in the city's Urban Growth Area, or be a resident of Lacey, and should submit a resume and letter of interest with their application, which can be downloaded from the site.
