The Lacey Gateway, a mixed-use development comprising 250 acres at Marvin Road and Britton Parkway in Lacey, is attracting new attention, as its owners have now submitted plans for the site.
The Nisqually Tribe and Mon Wig, a developer based in Bellevue, have submitted plans to the city for a 320,000 square-foot project, to be located at the Gateway's northeast quadrant.
Lacey officials are still reviewing the plans, which show twelve buildings located on 28 acres. One of the buildings offers 123,000 square feet for an anchor tenant. The site is also close to a 7-Eleven and a gas station, but prospective tenants have not yet been identified.
Wig Properties' Leshya Wig said timing of the new project is still in flux, as the developers want to insure the market will support the center, and that the project is done correctly. Lacey Gateway was first developed by Tri Vo, which is responsible for bringing Cabela's to the city. The recession slowed further development, and then Vo went bankrupt and the property returned to the lender, which sold it to the current owners. However, the Nisqually Tribe and Wig Properties have a similar vision for the project as the one Vo first articulated.
Leshya Wig said that ultimately, Lacey Gate will have a mix of medical, residential, entertainment, retail, and other uses.
Projects like this can benefit if developers create models and illustrated Brochures showing amenities to prospective tenants.
