What's Happening in Lacey, WA…

A fun event that had to change course has been rescheduled, according to organizers.

The Northwest Pirate Festival will sail back into Lacey on a different date to the one originally planned. The event takes attendees back to 1719, when Black Sand Bay, on North America's East Coast, suddenly finds itself without its putative ruler, the pirate Captain Galavar, who is said to have died of “natural causes.” For the first time in four decades, the port is unregulated.

News of Galavar's passing has reached as far as Lacey, and two local pirate crews, those from the “Emerald Rose” and “Freedom's Revenge,” hope to be the first to get to Black Sand Bay and take it over, thus gaining autonomy as well as being acknowledged as the most fearsome pirates on the seas.

Festival attendees will find themselves being wooed by crews from both ships, who hope to gain support by offering sea shanties and other music. Food will be available from The Galley, and The Crow's Nest Inn will be serving drinks including grog and rum, while The Market has themed products for pirates of every age. Costumes are not a necessity, but everyone is invited to wear their best pirate garb.

The event was first set for July 2020, but will now take place July 10 and 11, 2021, starting at 10.00 am the first day, at the Thurston County Fairgrounds in Lacey. Banner printing can provide signage for outdoor events like this.
