While it may seem impossible, it’s almost the holiday season again, and people who want to get ahead with their shopping have a chance to do so in Lacey.
For the 38th year running, the Olympia Weavers Guild is holding their Annual Show and Sale. The sale has become a part of the calendar of holiday events taking place in and around Olympia, as guild members enter their unique handmade, handspun, and handwoven products into the sale. The monies raised from the sale go back to the Guild, which it uses to support its workshops and monthly programs, allowing members to improve their skills and knowledge.
Among the items shoppers are likely to find are gloves, hats, handspun yarns, cards, jewelry, shawls and carves, clothing, baskets, throws and blankets, table linens, table runners, dishtowels, rugs, and many more, all handmade by Guild members who enjoy crafting these items. Demonstrations of weaving are also planned, and the Raffle is set to make its return.
The Olympia Weavers Guild Annual Show and Sale is scheduled for October 6 and 7 at the Thurston County Fairgrounds in Lacey. The show takes place in the Heritage Hall, from 12.00 pm until 6.00 pm on October 6, and 10.00 am until 6.00 pm on October 7. When organizers set up a show like this, they often work with flyer printing services to create handouts for attendees, in order to advertise the artists and the type of work they do.
