A special event is scheduled for Lacey that will challenge and interest attendees.
Participants in a class at the Lacey Makerspace will have an opportunity to make and take home a beautiful piece of furniture—a coffee or side table. They will see the project through from beginning to end, starting by selecting the wood for the table, shaping it, and attaching the legs to complete the piece. Those who take the class will learn basic power tool and woodworking skills, techniques for finishing and sanding, and more. People of all levels of skills and experience, particularly beginners, are encouraged to attend. Events like this give people a chance to network and exchange Business Cards.
The price for the class does not include the wood that will be used as the tabletop. Class members will be able to choose their own slabs of live edge wood, with prices that generally run between $20 and $75, depending on the species and size. Participants will purchase the slab at the start of the class, and the legs, as well as other material necessary to finish the table, will be provided. The wood is all locally milled and sourced.
To keep everyone safe, masks will be worn any time people are indoors at the Lacey MakerSpace, and they will be required to take a COVID-19 Health Check before class. Everyone is asked to maintain a social distance and wash their hands frequently.
