Susan Rice is now 70, but has shown no Signs of slowing down. She got her start in 1983 when she performed her one-woman show in Portland, Oregon, at the Leaky Roof Tavern. She was a hit, and decided to make comedy her full-time career. Since then, she has appeared in venues throughout the country and around the world.
Once she decided on comedy, she moved to Los Angeles where she soon appeared regularly at venues such as The Comedy Store, Igby’s, and the Icehouse in Pasadena. On the road, she learned from comic legends like Paula Poundstone, Sam Kinison, and Jerry Seinfeld.
Rice’s performance may not be suitable for young ones as, as she says herself, she has a “potty mouth.” Her material includes her astute observations about the little, annoying things that happen every day, being a plus-sized person, sex, and aging. She also shares personal experiences from her career. When she talks about getting older, she says the best thing about it is:
“Being able to slap people who ask stupid questions.”
Today, Rice does many corporate events, and is in demand throughout the country. A review notes:
