An upcoming event in Lacey promises a lot of fun as well as delicious food.

The Lacey South Sound Chamber and its community partners are teaming up to present a greatly anticipated experience, the South Sound BBQ Festival. In addition to slow-cooked BBQ that will make people’s mouths water, the day will include live entertainment, vendors, outdoor activities, a wine and beer garden for adults only, a chicken wing eating contest, and special activities for the children. Although details are still being finalized for the 2024 celebration, a look back at previous BBQs will give people an idea of what to expect.

The festival takes place in Huntamer Park, which is the venue for many events in the city. The festival usually offers two stages, with events appropriate for all ages taking place on the main stage. In the past, performers have included local dancers and martial arts demonstrations as well as bands playing a variety of music.

Youngsters will find things to do in the Kidzone, which has offered a bouncy house and face painting in previous years. Vendors play a large part in the festival, which always invites local businesses to participate, giving them an opportunity to showcase their products and services.
