What's Happening in Lacey, WA…

An upcoming event in Lacey is planned to be both fun and creepy, as befits the season.

The City of Lacey and Love Local Events WA have teamed up to present Spooky in the Park, a Halloween celebration suitable for people of all ages. The party will feature fun activities, food trucks, and local small businesses.

Activities include a costume contest, and a chance for people to explore the haunted train station. There will also be live pumpkin carving, and people of all ages and levels of skills are eligible to compete in a pumpkin carving contest. A community Trunk or Treat is also planned.

Trunk or Treat has taken the place of the traditional trick-or-treat in many communities. Instead of going door-to-door, sometimes in unfamiliar neighborhoods, participants bring their cars, which are often decorated, to a central location, where they hand out candy from the trunk.

Spooky in the Park is free, although there is a $5 fee to enter the pumpkin carving event. The party is designed to support the community and small businesses, who will be there to chat with attendees, who in turn are encouraged to get to know their local merchants. The event is pet friendly as well, so Fido and Fluffy are welcome.

Spooky in the Park will be held October 23, from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm, at the playground at Lacey Depot Park. Events like these can be publicized locally if organizers use flyer printing to create handouts.
