Lacey is planning its annual event that celebrates the city’s diversity.
The Lacey Cultural Celebration is on the way, bringing the world to the city’s residents. Regional and local performing arts groups will present dance and musical performances, and displays and demonstrations will allow people to learn about various world cultures. Vendors will be on hand with craft and food samples that represent their cultures.
The family friendly event includes a Passport Activity for youngsters. They can pick up a passport and then collect “Stamps” that will enable them to take a special prize home.
For children (and adults) who might feel overwhelmed by the excitement of the event, Sensory ToolHouse will provide a Sensory Recovery Area where people can step away to decompress before returning to the fun.
Performances are an important aspect of the day. They are scheduled to take place every half-hour, and they represent numerous cultures. Among those scheduled to appear are the Rainer Riff Band, Celtic Treble, the Indian South Sound Association, Panama Folklore, the Filipino American Community, Haley Prendergast Irish Dancers, Ryuei Ryu Ryuhon Kan Dojo, and more.
The free Lacey Cultural Celebration is scheduled for February 1 at Saint Martin’s University, located at 5300 Pacific Avenue SE, from 10.00 am until 6.00 pm. The performances start at 10.00 am. When planning events like this, organizers will frequently use flyer printing to create handouts for attendees, listing the vendors and a schedule of events.
