Charlie's Safari reopens in Lacey

The family play center, Charlie's Safari, is once again open in Lacey, according to an article in The Columbian.

The space offers an arcade, play structure, bounce houses, and laser tag, along with a cafe known as the Watering Hole. There is also a spot where players can redeem their arcade winnings for prizes. In addition, the space has room for both parents and their children to play together, but it also has tables and private rooms where parents can simply sit and watch.

Kurt Kageler owns Charlie's Safari, which he first opened on Martin Way in May, 2008. His facility then comprised 22,000 square feet, and was located near the Regal Martin Village Stadium. Through a series of mishaps, he closed the center in 2016, then reopened late in 2017 in 17,000 square feet in Hawks Prairie. His new facility took over space that was once the Lacey campus of the South Puget Sound Community College.

Since the reopening, Kageler says the center has been “overwhelmed with business,” particularly during the holidays. It is clear that people missed the play space, but part of the response is due to the fact that to some patrons, the place seems new and different. His success in the new space has given Kageler another idea – he would like to franchise Charlie's Safari.
