Dora Gyarmati, who owns Spira Power Yoga, a popular Seattle yoga studio, has opened a second location in Issaquah. Gyarmati wants to give residents of Issaquah's Eastside an opportunity to attend classes at a location that should be more convenient for them. Issaquah residents who have been traveling to the original location face a 30-minute trip.
Gyarmati said that her studio is a licensed vocational school, with workshops that became so popular the Seattle studio ran out of room. She also realized that many of her students were driving a half-hour to attend and decided she had had enough success with the Seattle location to open a second to save them the trip. Spira Power is warm yoga studio, not a hot yoga facility, and is heated to 86 degrees. Instructors teach students techniques they can use to alleviate stress and increase mindfulness. Gyarmati also opened Spira Mindful Wellness, a sister company, to provide further education by holding seminars on subjects such as stress management and resiliency.
Gyarmati said that there are many health care professionals in the ranks of the studio's teachers. These experts help students gain strength, learn to stretch properly, and learn how to breath to help manage stress. She says she hopes to create a family-friendly experience on Issaquah's Eastside.
