Thanksgiving Day starts with a run to feed others

The Issaquah Turkey Trot is taking place this Thanksgiving Day. It is a fundraising event for the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank.

There are two races to be held on the day; the 5K for those aged 11 and over and the ‘Gobble Wobble’ for children aged 10 and under. There will be no ribbons or prizes but children taking part in the run will receive a card and a prize at the end. Participants can run, jog, or walk through either race. Participants are encouraged to dress up in costume to reflect the holiday.

Those who wish to take part in the marathon must register by November 25; packages can be picked up at the Sports Authority on November 26 between 12:00 noon and 8:00 PM on that day, or at 7:30 am on race day.

This event raised over $35,000 for the food bank last year and organizers hope to top this figure this year. It is possible that the information in the racers’ package and their numbers were provided by Issaquah printing companies.

The Issaquah Turkey Trot will be held on November 27 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. Runners will start and finish at the NW City Hall Building. Fees are $24 for the 5K and $7 for the ‘Gobble Wobble’. To get more information about this event, or about the food bank, call 425-392-4123.
