Run scheduled in Issaquah

A major run is planned at Squak Mountain in Issaquah.

Squak Mountain Trail Runs offer three different races: a 50K, a half-marathon, and a 12K. The races will be run on the courses that already exist in the park, which features 5K and half-marathon loops. The 50K is not a commonly seen distance, as it is longer than a marathon (26 miles), but not quite an “ultra-marathon.” In order to achieve the distance, runners on this course will run the half-marathon loop twice, and the 5K loop once. Runners on the 12K will also have to run some parts of the course twice to complete the distance. The start and finish line for all the races is the Squak Mountain Trailhead.

Runners should be aware that Squak Mountain is one of the many parks maintained by Washington State, and will be available to others during the races, including equestrians and hikers. Aid stations will be available at various points on the course, and treats and food will be available at the finish. The trails lead through beautiful forests, as well as offering glimpses of surrounding mountains.

Registration and check-in begins at 6:00 am, and pre-race briefings will be held five minutes before each race. The 50K begins at 7:00 am, the half-marathon at 9:00 am, and the 12K at 9:30 am. There is also a Kids’ Race at 10.00 am.

The race is set for April 24, and poster printing is often used to publicize events of this type.
