The system of bike trails that wind their way through Tiger Mountain State Forest near Issaquah is growing, and it’s attracting cyclists from all over.
One of the trails that is under construction is a four mile long climbing trail that snakes its way up the mountain from the Route 18 parking area. It is intended to be used for going up, and it has not yet been decided if it will also be able to be used for going back down again. Even if not, there are still lots of other paths that can be used for that. The Department of Natural Resources, Washington Conservation Corps., Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance, and several other groups have partnered to make the park a destination of choice for those who enjoy mountain biking, and by all accounts, their efforts are working. There are now more than twice as many trails as there were in 2012, and it is estimated that 100,000 people a year come out to enjoy its 15 miles of bike paths.
