Issaquah to learn history the easy way

The City of Issaquah has an interesting history that includes brawls and bars, and now its past will be brought to life in an upcoming event.

Somewhat unusually, this lesson takes the form of the Issaquah History Pub Crawl. The evening begins at the Issaquah Depot Museum, where local historians will meet those taking part in the event. The history experts will then take the group to various establishments in downtown Issaquah.

Each bar or restaurant taking part in the evening will have an appetizer or cocktail available, which those on the crawl can enjoy while they listen as the historians narrate the juicy tidbits and laugh-out-loud stories of the city's past. The crawl ends with chocolate and moonshine paired together at the Historic Shell Station.

The Issaquah History Pub Crawl starts at the Issaquah Depot Museum, where attendees are asked to gather by 6:45 pm. The crawl starts at 7:00 pm exactly, and will end at approximately 9:00 pm. Those on the crawl will be spending some time outdoors, standing to listen to the historians or walking between the establishments taking part, so they are urged to dress warmly and comfortably.

The crawl takes place February 6, and is a project of the Issaquah Historical Museum and the Downtown Issaquah Association. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts that include historical information and maps for events like this.
