Eighth grader Ayush Noori, who hails from Issaquah and is a student at the Open Window School, recently became the winner for the second consecutive year at the King-Snohomish County Regional Spelling Bee.
He is now eligible to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee to be held later this month Washington, D.C. where he will be joined by students from across the country.
Ayush commented that he was grateful for the support of his parents and everyone else that made this win possible. He added that he has learned a lot after last year, in that the event is not just about competition but also relationships and friendships, as he stands in a room with several hundred people who share his love of spelling.
He studies an hour a day to prepare for the National Bee and elicits the help of his mother to ask him to spell words. His fondness for reading also contributes to his exemplary spelling skills.
Another passion of Ayush is charity with his nonprofit Maitri Miracles, which he started in 2012. Maitri Miracles was set up to raise funds for impoverished schools so that underprivileged youth can have a better education. As part of his focus on the importance of literacy, he might consider using a brochure printing company to create Brochures and other materials about his organization and his many other charitable efforts.
The Scripps National Spelling Bee will take place May 22 through May 27.
