Issaquah ready for musical summer

Musical performances are part of the summer in Issaquah, and the tradition continues this year.

The Concerts on the Green series is already underway, but there is still time to enjoy the upcoming bands: Portage Bay Big Band, Surround Sound Band, Nite Wave, and Stonesy.

Portage Bay Big Band plays the hits from the big band era of the 1930s and 1940s. The 18-piece ensemble has been playing since 1981, led by vocalist Hannah Scott.

A review says:

“A more authentic Big Band can't be found in this area.”

Surround Sound Band plays funk, soul, and rhythm and blues. They are based in Seattle, where they first got together in 2012. They are a traditional R&B group and have played alongside such international artists as Howard Hewitt and Loose Ends.

Nite Wave plays the new wave hits that defined the 1980s. Nite Wave has toured with Billy Idol, and plays the music of groups such as Depeche Mode, INXS, Prince, Duran Duran, and more.

Stonesy plays the songs of one of the biggest bands in history, the Rolling Stones. The concerts take place from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at the Issaquah Community Center.

Portage Bay Big Band plays August 2, Surround Sound appears August 9, Nite Way appears on August 16, and Stonesy rounds the schedule off on August 23. People enjoy learning about performers, so organizers of events like this could use brochure printing to create pamphlets about each act.
