Communities everywhere are celebrating the holidays, and Issaquah is no exception, holding its annual Light Up the Night event.
In order to Light Up the Night, people are encouraged to take part in the “Lighted People Parade,” and then make their way to Sunset Beach for a Holiday Beach Party.
The “Lighted People Parade” is just what it sounds like—people are encouraged to drape themselves in Christmas lights and take part. They might dig out their ugly sweaters with sewn-in lights, wear flashing Santa hats, or wind strings of lights around their waists. Everyone will follow Santa, who is leading the parade with the help of his reindeer. There will be a prize for the most creative use of light.
Entertainment for the evening will be provided by the Liberty High School Jazz Choir, and Joyas Mestizas will bring the costumes, dance, and music of Mexico to Issaquah. Concessions will be available for purchase.
The parade starts and ends at Sunset Beach in Lake Sammamish State Park, where participants are welcome to build bonfires and toast marshmallows. The parade is free, and open to all, though people who would like to do so may register online. Sending an email means the individual will be entered into a raffle for a gift basket.
“Light Up the Night” will take place on December 1, starting at 5:30 pm, when the parade starts from the parking lot at Sunset Beach. Flyer printing can be used to announce events like this.
