It’s that time of year again, when people in Issaquah take part in what has become a signature event.
The body of water in question is Lake Sammamish in Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah, and the occasion is the annual Polar Bear Plunge. The fun starts with the official registration, live music, and antics courtesy of the Clown Garage, who will perform on Sunset Beach. After this, people who are determined to do so will take the Plunge.
The first 300 people to register for the event will get a Polar Plunge SWAG bag that includes a commemorative pin made by Pins by Design, a local company.
People who would rather not get wet do not have to plunge. They are welcome to come and support their favorite athletes. In addition to the plunge itself, there will be a HIIT class with Fit4Mom, and a costume contest. When they plan events like this, organizers can use banner printing to create Signs indicating the locations of the classes and performances.
The Polar Plunge is scheduled for January 1. Registration opens at 10.30 am, the interval training class is at 11.00 am, the costume contest is at 11.30 am, and the hardy souls who intend to plunge will do so at noon. Participants need to bring water shoes or socks, and everyone needs to dress appropriately for the weather. A Discover Pass will not be needed to park at the state park during this event.
