‘Biennial 2014: Knock on Wood’ is now showing at the Bellevue Arts Museum until March.
The exhibition showcases contemporary artisans from the Northwest who create works made from wood. It is a juried event that highlights the versatility of wood. Some of those included in the show are Julia Harrison, Garric Simonsen, and Mike Rathburn. Artists come from as far and wide as Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and British Columbia.
The museum is also presenting two related programs this January. On January 24, the NWDC Talks presentation will be ‘Toolmaking: Artisans make for Artisans’. Phillip Baldwin will be discussing hand tools produced by blacksmiths.
Later on in the month, on January 31, there is set to be a Knock on Wood Symposium. This features a tour of the exhibit, keynote speakers, and panel discussions. Attendees will also be treated to coffee, wine, and chocolate.
Art lovers from nearby cities like Issaquah will probably make time to attend this event, which only takes place every two years. Local Stationery printers are often hired to create items like Flyers to advertise in the area.
‘Knock on Wood’ is showing at the Bellevue Arts Museum until March 29. The gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday, and tickets are $10 for adults or $8 for seniors.
