The Down Home 4th of July and Heritage Day celebration is taking place this Independence Day in Issaquah. The event is presented by the Greater Issaquah Chamber of Commerce and the Issaquah Historical Society.
This annual event has lots to offer for the entire family. The day starts off with the Swedish Hospital Kids 'n' Pets Parade along Front Street; those who wish to participate can register at 10:00 AM on the day of the parade. Later, there will be festivities at Veterans' Memorial Park that will include pony rides, a pie eating contest, gunny sack and three-legged races, bouncy houses and the Hay Hunt. Proud owners can also enter their slug in a speed race and beauty contest.
There will also be vendors and community organizations that will be hosting activity and sales booths. For those who wish to become vendors, fees $20 for a 10 x 10-foot booth for non-profits, $50 for artisans, $100 for food and $125 for commercial companies.
Organizers are looking for volunteers to help with the set up and running of events.
Many participants in the parade might want to carry a banner or a sign that they can obtain from Issaquah printing companies.
