Children's event scheduled near Issaquah

A performance tailored for young children is scheduled for the Issaquah area.

StoryBook Theatre is affiliated with Studio East, a Kirkland non-profit, which produces its shows. The theater bases its shows on fairy tales that it rewrites and changes into musicals. Since the theater creates the productions specifically for children from three to ten years of age, they are short, averaging about 55 minutes. Also, all the shows end happily, and each one teaches a life lesson.

The production that will be performed soon is “Sleeping Beauty.” Lani Brockman adapted the original fairy tale, and Susan Bardsley wrote the music as well as the lyrics. The life lesson this program is trying to teach is to “follow your dreams.” In the revised version of the classic story, “Princess Beauty” is mostly valued for her looks. However, she wants to go on dragon-hunting adventures, where her looks will not be of much help. Also, she does not particularly want to have to sleep for 100 years, waiting for a prince to come to her rescue, when she believes she could be the one to rescue him.

The show will be presented at the Renton Carco Theater in Renton, a short distance from Issaquah. There will be two shows, one at 11:00 am, and the second at 1:00 pm, on February 6, 2021. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts advertising events like this.
