An upcoming event in Issaquah will celebrate the idea of sustainability.
For the second year, the City of Issaquah is presenting its Sustainability Fair, which is even larger and more interactive than the first. The theme this year is “Waste Less, Smile More.” Organizers hope that the fair will engage, educate, and inspire attendees to become aware of sustainability and climate initiatives.
Fairgoers can enjoy a variety of activities suitable for everyone in the family. These include Touch-a-Truck, a clothing swap, live demonstrations, and more.
Touch-a-Truck events are held throughout the country, allowing kids of all ages to climb into equipment like police cars and fire trucks. In Issaquah, staff members from the Public Works Department will be on hand to talk about ways in which they prevent pollutants from entering the storm drains, where they can damage local waterways and threaten fish.
The clothing swap is just what it sounds like—everyone is invited to bring clean, gently-used clothing to swap with other items in similar condition.
Vendors will be on hand with sustainable goods, and live demonstrations will show how to reduce waste and find alternatives to dangerous cleaning products.
All this and much more will take place on March 30, from 10.00am until 3.00pm, at the Pickering Barn in Issaquah. Sponsors of events like this will often work with flyer printing to create handouts listing vendors, as well as a schedule of events.
