Last month saw WestJet test the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The initial test flight was completed successfully and January 5, and now the company plans to do more. The jet landed at the Boeing Factory in Everett when returning.
WestJet ordered 10 Boeing 787s from the low-cost Canadian carrier. It plans to use the new jets for instituting new flights during the year.
The new jets will be used for flights between Calgary and London. On April 28, the airline will add Dreamliner service between Calgary and Paris. New flights between Calgary and Dublin will follow as of May 17.
The 787s have a three-class configuration and seat 304 passengers. The business class cabin will have on-demand dining and turn-down service for 16 passengers. The seat lies flat and is used in rival airline Air Canada.
There will be small premium economy section that seats 28 passengers. The economy section will seat 260 passengers in a 3-3-3 configuration. Each seat will have TV and power. Everett has Print shops design promotional product for companies like this.
The Dreamliner is fuel efficient and uses 25% less fuel per passenger and allows carriers to open up new routes. Its size holds more passengers and their cargo area is 40% larger.
These jets have vaulted ceilings, LED lighting, reduced noise, and large overhead bins. The large windows offer a spectacular aerial view. It has a high-tech air purification system that removes contaminants and odors.
