Everett Tourism will be resuming its Jetty Island Days program this summer, encouraging residents and visitors to explore one of Everett’s unique attractions.
The program showcases the manmade Jetty Island, which functions as a “breakwater” in the Pacific Ocean and is also known as one of Washington state’s best beaches. The jetty also brings visitors back to nature, with the island having no cars, electricity or running water. Ferries run five days a week during the summer as part of Jetty Island Days, with the island only accessible by private boat the rest of the year.
As part of the program, the Port of Everett and Shack Art Centre will be bringing back their Float Find contest. Twenty handblown glass floats will be hidden on the island every week throughout July and August, with visitors encouraged to hunt for the items. There will also be colored floats hidden at Waterfront Park and in participating businesses.
Travelers are encouraged to bring all their beach supplies such as towels, bathing suits, and sunscreen. Municipal governments and tourism departments often use special promotions like this as well as brochure printing and social media to encourage visitors to outdoor attractions.
The Jetty Island Days campaign will run from July 8 to September 6, with ferry service running from Wednesday to Sunday each week. The ferry departs from Jetty Landing or A-Dock depending on the tide.
