The Village Theatre group will be staging a unique musical parody this spring with its production of “We Ain’t Ever Gonna Break Up: The Hymon & Parfunkel Musical.”
The musical play is a parody of the trend of “jukebox musicals” featuring the songs of well-known artists. The Everett show will star Gregg Hammer and Louis Pardo as the titular pair, a fictitious folk duo throughout the stereotypical ups and downs of their careers. Hammer and Pardo are also the show’s writers, and will play every one of the story’s supporting parts – and every instrument.
“We Ain’t Ever Gonna Break Up” first premiered in the Everett area as part of Village Theatre’s Festival of New Musicals in 2024, and are now bringing the show back to the Pacific Northwest as a full production. Local theatre groups often aim to nurture new talent and plays like this, using brochure printing for programs to identify the creative team and inspiration at play.
There will be a full month of performances for the musical, including showings in both Everett and Issaquah. Both locations will also include a preview showing, an opening night, an ASL interpreted performance, a staging with captions, and a “pay what you choose” show.
We Ain’t Ever Gonna Break Up: The Hymon & Parfunkel Musical” will be on stage in Everett on select dates from June 27 to July 19 at the Village Theatre.
