A 60-foot outdoor mural on California Street in Everett is attracting local visitors to the area. At 60 feet high with psychedelic colors, it has a bear driving a cargo ship, and symbols of baseball, hockey, and a seagull. The design is by an agency called Invisible Creature.
This Welcome to Everett mural is located on California Street near Colby. The bright colors red, orange, and polka dots really catches the attention of downtown visitors. The funding for the mural came from Skotal Real Estate and the Everett lodging tax grant.
Julio Cortez a city official says that Everett wants to be certified as a Creative District by the Washington State Art Commission. He says the city has art, music, and culture. The mural has become a social media attraction with locals.
The artist painting the mural is a sign painter named Don Rockwell. He has painted B.B King, King Kong, and Pearl Jam. He is finishing up the mural and will apply a clear coat to protect it.
