The Imagine Children's Museum in Everett received a $500,000 grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. This will complete an expansion that will double the size of the museum by 2022.
The M.J. Murdock organization believes that the best learning occurs when the classroom offers both book-based and interactive lessons supported by tasks. Dr, Steve Moore, Executive Director of M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, says that the Imagine Children's Museum combines learning with real world activities.
The expansion will include many new exhibits and special amenities. There will be exhibits for forest habitats and wildlife, equipment and history of vet medicine, marine flora and fauna, and transporting goods.
It is anticipated the Museum will have a collaborative space for learning, exploring, and sharing projects. There will be a puppet theater, a studio in which to learn and create art, auditorium, fishing pond, and new restaurant.
The expansion will provide more space for adults’ and children’s interaction, and for them to play together, says Nancy L. Johnson, Executive Director of the museum.
