The Village Theatre production company will bring the musical Little Shop of Horrors to the Everett Performing Arts Center in late October.
Tying in with the theme of Halloween, the Little Shop of Horrors is a musical loosely based on the 1960 low-budget horror film of the same name. The music, which consists mostly of 1960s doo-wop, rock and roll, and Motown-style songs, was composed by Alan Menken, while the book was written by Howard Ashman.
The plot mostly revolves around an orphaned young man, Seymour Krelborn, who works in a flower shop. Due to an interest in unusual plants, he discovers a plant that resembles a Venus fly trap. While this unique plant brings him great fame and even love at first, its unique taste for human blood quickly becomes a deadly problem.
The Village Theatre is an Issaquah-based theatre production company that has been producing entertaining productions since 1979. Many of these, over 175 to date, are brand new and entirely unique productions. Its theatre is also one of the region's best attended, with a projected total audience of over 220,000 each season.
