The Port of Everett will be hosting the Holiday on the Bay 5K, challenging local runners to tackle a distance run ahead of the holiday season.
The event is open to runners and walkers of all skill levels who can tackle the 5-kilometer distance at whatever pace is best for them. The race is hosted by the Port of Everett and the Snohomish Running Company, and features a flat route along Port Gardner Bay with a view of the Olympic Mountains. Participants are encouraged to wear blue and white garb to match the winter season. Runners will also receive a race shirt and finisher medal to commemorate the occasion. The race will conclude with awards for the fastest times in different age groups, as well as an overall winner. Discounted registration rates are available for active or retired military members as well as runners under the age of 18. The race is designed to draw attention to the Port of Everett and its winter festivities. The port will also host a Holiday on the Bay festival the previous day, featuring a pop-up holiday market, kids’ activities, a tree-lighting ceremony, lighted boats on parade, drive-in movies and of course a visit from Santa Claus.
