Historic Everett designs 2021 train calendar
This year, Historic Everett, a preservation organization, has designed its 2021 calendar to depict the history of trains.
The calendar is called “Railroads of Everett,” and is the 16th one the organization has published
In the past, the organization has published calendars on themes like saloons, historic homes, and schools to raise money for its projects. The calendar tells the complex history of Everett's three major railroad lines.
The calendar has the history and photos of The Greater Northern Railroad, The Northern Pacific Railway, and Milwaukee Road. Steve Fox authored and researched the calendar text and several other local historians helped with the research.
Fox is the chairman of the Everett Historical Society, and stresses that trains have an important part in Everett’s history. The calendar has historic photos of workers building the Everett and Monte Crisco Railway during 1893. Eventually, the railroad reached the mining town of Monte Crisco.
Local historian Neil Anderson made a Zoom presentation called “Growing Up With Trains Around Everett”. The virtual production shares his memories of growing up, train rides, and his grandfather.
The 2021 calendar depicts 125 years of railroad and train history in Everett. It has historic photos of railroad structures, trains, Everett-Seattle Interurban, streetcars, and even construction of the railroad tracks.
The calendar is sold at J. Matheson Gifts and online at the Historic Everett website. Print shops design promotional products for organizations with fundraising projects like this.
