The economic need for funding was identified by a survey supplied by Main Street America. Funding sources have increased through the Department of Housing and Urban Development. These changes have allowed Everett to apply for Community Development Block grants.
The funds will be distributed by the City of Everett, with priority given to businesses and nonprofits that serve the poor and low-income families.
Everett Cares shows how the city is looking for innovative ways to help businesses. Print shops have Graphic Design Services that design and print ads or marketing materials for programs like this.
Application for small businesses grants opened on April 30 and nonprofits applications will be taken in later May. It will allocate 50 grants of $10,000 to small businesses.
The grants are aimed to businesses that provide services and goods for moderate- and low-income families. Grants for small businesses are due by May 22.
