Everett residents are donning their helmets and greasing their chains in anticipation of the 2016 Snohomish County Bike Bash. The mid-day event aims to instruct and inform visitors about bicycle safety while
simultaneously showing the many fun possibilities for bicycling in Snohomish County.
Central to the education aspect of the bash is the Bike Rodeo. An obstacle course has been set up requiring all manner of bicycle safety skills. Visitors can bring their own bikes and helmets or borrow one on-site to navigate the course and pick up some useful safety tips along the way. Afterwards participants can peruse some Brochures while they visit Snohomish County Fire District Seven’s booth, where they can be fitted for a discounted bicycle helmet. Community Transit will also have a booth set up with information about the many on and off-road bicycle trails in the county.
For entertainment, a stage is being set up with live music and several vendors will set up booths at the bash including Greg’s Cycles, Outdoors for All, and Vet Chef and Big Dog Food Trucks. Additionally, there will be a demonstration of how to play bike polo and a BMX race. The event will also feature three different coordinated rides: a one mile ride for beginners, a four mile ride for intermediate, and a six mile ride for advanced riders.
The 2016 Snohomish County Bike Bash will be held on June 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at McCollum Park, located at 600 128th St. Admission is free to the public. Anyone interested in attending should visit the website for more information.
