The Everett Film Festival will return this April, highlighting new and classic films from women filmmakers.
The festival will consist of two multi-film screenings. Saturday afternoon will feature the environmental documentary “Fish War,” the short film “Echos of the Sound” about orcas, and the absurdist comedy “Lost in Paris.” The first two films will feature a question-and-answer session with the creators following the showing. Sunday will be the “We Love Short Shorts Collection” with approximately a dozen short films, including titles like “Gardening in a War Zone”, “She Marches in Chinatown” and “How Do You See Me?”
The festival advertises itself as a community cultural experience, which includes light refreshments as well as a raffle for prizes donated from local businesses. Local businesses such as Print shops and radio stations often also help contribute to marketing for cultural events like these. The festival was founded over 25 years ago as the Everett Women’s Film Festival and typically features films that might otherwise go under the radar. Promotional material says:
“[The event] offers engaging and thought-provoking films from across the country and around the globe with a unique look into the lives of women through documentaries, feature films, animations, and film shorts.”
The 2025 Everett Film Festival will take place on April 5 and 6 at the Everett Performing Arts Center, with both showings taking place in the afternoon.
