World Spay Day works to raise awareness about how spaying and neutering can help control the population of abandoned and feral companion animals, and an Everett not-for-profit organization will be joining in the celebration.
Everett Animal Shelter has made plans to make spay and neuter surgeries more financially accessible, and cat wonders who meet the criteria will be able to access these at a reduced price. There will be other services available as well, and the cats must be healthy, weigh at least two pounds, and be eight weeks of age or older.
Appointments for this activity need to be made in advance, and the cost is $40 for both male and female cats. Distemper and rabies vaccines will be $10 each, and free microchipping is also offered. Anyone who would like to have their pet treated with Selarid can do so, and this will also be $10. Payment must be made ahead of time.
Shelters, rescue groups, and other organizations interested in feline welfare help to meet gaps in a community’s social safety net. A poster printing company will be able to provide non-profits with marketing materials that may help to make their budget stretch.
Everett Animal Shelter will be offering its Feline Fix on Sunday, February 25. Appointment timeslots start at 7:30 am and the final one will be at 5:00 pm.
