The Sno-Isle Food Co-Op has been hosting a weekly yin yoga class with instructor Danáe in 2022. In a couple of days, it will host the last one of the year.
Yin Yoga is a subcategory of yoga that was founded in the late 1970s by martial arts expert Paulie Zink. It is much slower-paced than other yoga types and practitioners hold their poses for longer periods of time. It also incorporates traditional principles of Chinese medicine. The postures of Yin Yoga mostly apply pressure to the body's connective tissues. It is believed that this will increase the body's circulation and improve flexibility.
The Sno-Island Food Co-Op is unique because in all of the Snohomish and Island counties, it is the only cooperatively owned and operated grocery store. Over 9,000+ families in Snohomish County jointly own it. In addition, the grocery store gives back to its community and the environment. Any profits are distributed to the owners, used for shop improvements, or given to various charitable organizations. Any product the co-op sells has met high-quality, locality, and sustainability principles.
The last 'Yoga at the Co-Op' will take place at 2804 Grand Avenue from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm this Wednesday, December 28, in Suite 301 on the 3rd floor of the co-op. Guests should bring their own yoga mat and water along with any other tools they need, such as blocks.
