Snohomish County is getting ready for its first ever TEDx event, which will be livecast to several nearby towns including Everett. The event will feature speakers from several areas of industry and the community and promises to be a thought-provoking day.
TEDx, for anyone not familiar, is a local version of the TED talks events, which unite leaders from industry, management, entertainment, and design to talk on ideas centered around a theme. The central concept is that it not be a talk about sales or products, but rather that it focus on ideas that are worth passing on. The theme of this local TEDx event is ‘Creating New Futures,’ and features 23 local speakers including a hip-hop artist, a chief of staff, a violinist, and an astronaut.
The 700 seats available to view the event live were all claimed within days of becoming available, but there are still many opportunities for those wanting to participate. It is going to be livecast to many local libraries, community colleges, as well as desktop computers, tablets, and smartphones. A public reception will also take place after the event.
The TEDx event will be held Friday, November 6 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts in Edmonds, Washington. Everett residents interested can watch the livecast at the Everett Community College.
