Tribute acts to entertain in Bellingham

Several tribute bands will bring the music of the 1980s back to Bellingham next month.

Wild Buffalo will be the place to go to hear the music of Billy Idol, A Flock of Seagulls, and Duran Duran, played by tribute bands for these artists. Whiplash Smile is the tribute band for Billy Idol, Telecommunication honors A Flock of Seagulls, and Tiger Tiger stands in for Duran Duran.

All three tribute bands are part of Nite Wave, which performs in a variety of guises. As Whiplash Smile, they perform “Eyes Without a Face,” “White Wedding,” and other Billy Idol hits.

The Tiger Tiger tribute formed in 2015, when Nite Wave played the entire Duran Duran hit album “Rio” in concert. The response was so positive, they have continued to recreate the band’s work, playing hit singles like “The Reflex” and the iconic “Hungry Like the Wolf.”

Telecommunication was created in 2021 as an additional Nite Wave project. In this iteration, the band plays 1982’s “A Flock of Seagulls,” the band’s debut album, in its entirety, including the hit song “I Ran (So Far Away).”

Nite Wave got together in 2011. They have opened for Billy Idol, and been on stage with artists like Tiffany and the Go-Go’s Jane Wiedlin.

The concert is on August 12, starting at 8:00 pm. Organizers of events like this can use poster printing to create advertising for the occasion.
