Races set for Bellingham

Popular races are scheduled for Bellingham.

The annual Bellingham Bay Marathon is returning for the fourteenth year. The routes the runners will follow give them views of the North Cascades, the San Juan Islands, and Bellingham Bay. All of the proceeds help support non-profit organizations that support local youth.

No matter which race they run, all participants will receive a tech shirt, and a commemorative medal will be given to all finishers.

Those who opt to run the marathon relay will be running five legs of the regular marathon course point-to-point. The relay begins close to the Wex'liem Community Building, which is on the Lummi Nation, and ends in downtown Bellingham at Depot Market Square. The start time is expected to be 7.30 am, and participants have to be 12 years old at the youngest.

The full marathon participants run the same course as the marathon relay runners. Walkers will begin the course at 6.45 am, with runners beginning at 7.30 am. Participants must be 16 years of age or older.

The half marathon begins and ends in downtown Bellingham, at Depot Market Square, and participants have to be at least 12 This race should start at 9.00 am.

The 10K and 5K both start and finish at Depot Market Square, start at 9.15 am, and welcome all ages.

The marathons are set for September 27, from 7.30 am until 2.00 pm. Banner printing can be used to create clear markers for routes in events like this.
