Two bands are on the way to Bellingham and are likely to tear the place apart.
Meatbodies and Acid Dad will be appearing at the Karate Church soon. Meatbodies’ frontman Chad Ubovich has been part of the rock scene on the West Coast since the 2010s. A native of Los Angeles, he has worked with Mikal Cronin and Fuzz, as well as the Meatbodies. His freak-rock band is back with 333, a mix of primitive electronics, acoustic rave-ups, and guitar scuzz.
Also on the bill is Acid Dad, an alt-rock band comprising vocalists/guitarists Sean Fahey and Vaughn Hunt, and Trevor Mustoe on drums. They got their start in 2016 in New York City and made the leap to the world stage in 2018, when Greenway Records released “Acid Dad,” their debut album.
Their second LP, “Take It From the Dead,” clearly shows the various genres that have influenced the band, from 1970s classic rock to 1990s neo-psych to post-punk. The mix works well, and in contrast to earlier efforts, the work features songs that are more hypnotic and more intricate.
The band has built its own recording studio and even some of its guitars, so it’s not surprising that they also worked with Webb Hunt, a video artist, who provided the visual counterpart to their sound.
The bands will be at the Karate Church on September 20 at 8:00 pm. Flyer printing is often used to publicize events like this.
