A popular series of concerts is ready to return.
The Bellingham Festival of Music returns to the Western Washington University Performing Arts Center Concert Hall, where poster printing can be used to create colorful advertising for events like this.
Maestro Michael Palmer is on the podium, conducting a mostly string ensemble in the concert series. The Calidore String Quartet will give a performance.
The first day brings flautist Christina Smith together with cellist Estelle Choi for works by Bach, Elgar, and Hayden. The featured performer at the second concert is clarinettist Laura Ardan who, together with principals from the string section of the orchestra, plays works by Demos and Mozart.
The third concert will feature works by Mozart, Grieg, and Britten played by violist Jeremy Berry and violinist Jeffrey Myers. The fourth concert will feature the Calidore String Quartet playing works by Debussy and Beethoven, and the final day brings Ryan Meehan on the violin for works by Tchaikovsky and Mozart.
To meet state health guidelines, the size of the orchestra has been reduced, and the number of patrons admitted has also been cut. Due to this decrease, all but one of the concerts will be given twice on the same day, afternoon and evening, and social distancing and mask requirements will be observed.
The concert dates are July 10, 12, 14, 15, and 18. All concerts will be given at 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm, except for July 12, when the only performance is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
