A trio with a 60-year history in the music business, and dozens of hits to boast of, is on the way to Bellingham.
The Gatlin Brothers, one of the biggest names in country music, will be coming to Bellingham to brighten up the winter. The group has had seven singles at #1, 32 records in the Top 40, and has released 22 studio albums.
“Broken Lady” won the group the Grammy for Best Country Song, and their song “All the Gold in California” received three American Music Academy awards for Single of the Year. Their album “Straight Ahead” won Album of the Year, and Larry Gatlin was named Male Vocalist of the Year.
In addition, Larry Gatlin has written songs for other artists including Johnny Mathis, Dottie West, Sir Tom Jones, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Barbara Streisand, and Elvis Presley.
The brothers began singing gospel in 1955, and in 1971, Larry met Dottie West, and wrote a number of songs for her. West invited him to come to Nashville. In 1976, his brothers joined him.
A review of one of their performances notes that the Gatlin Brothers are a “class act,” and that although they've been singing for decades, “their voices are still first class.”
The Gatlin Brothers will appear from 7:30 pm until 10:00 pm on February 15, at Mount Baker Theatre-Bellingham on North Commercial Street. Poster printing is often used to create advertisements for events like this.
