Pink Martini will be at the Mount Baker Theatre soon, bringing their eclectic mix of musical genres to delight their audience. Thomas Lauderdale, a pianist, formed the group in Portland, Oregon, in 1994. As with all groups, the membership has changed over the years, but Pink Martini usually has between 10 and 12 members at any one time.
The group crosses the lines between genres, playing jazz, Latin tunes, classic pop, and classical music. The musicians are well-traveled and have studied different musical styles, and different languages, in a number of countries throughout the world, according to Lauderdale. He notes that this wide-ranging experience means that the group has a diverse repertoire, with audiences feeling like they're in Rio de Janeiro one moment, and in France the next.
A review of a past Pink Martini appearance at the Deer Valley Music Festival in Utah said that the group ended the event with sparkle and class, adding:
“This is a group that knows how to turn a hillside concert into a party where everyone feels welcome. That means there was music for people of all ages, and most nationalities, too.”
Pink Martini will appear from 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm on April 10, and tickets are on sale now. Mount Baker Theatre is located on North Commercial Street. Brochure printing can provide attractive programs for events like this.
