The Whatcom Humane Society has an event scheduled in Bellingham that promises to be both fun and educational.
The Society is presenting its Spring Critter Camp for children from the ages of six through nine. The camp, which is three days long, teaches young people about local wildlife, farm animals, and caring for domestic animals. Workshop attendees will have a chance to take part in games and learning activities, enjoy healthy vegan snacks, work on craft projects featuring animals, and meet a wide variety of animals, and interact with them.
The children will not be staying overnight at the camp, but will be dropped off by a parent every morning. Organizers note that they will provide snacks, but attendees should also bring a vegetarian or vegan sack lunch every day. Parents are also advised to dress their children in clothes they do not mind getting messy, and should also note that closed-toed shoes and long pants are required. Organizers of this type of event can use flyer printing to create handouts for campers, listing activities.
Advanced registration is required, as is payment. Officials will not hold spots for participants until they receive full payment. However, they understand some youngsters who want to attend might face financial constraints, so they are making two scholarships available.
The camp begins April 4 at 11:00 am and winds up April 6 at 3:00 pm. The fee is $125.00, and the venue is the Humane Society on Division Street in Bellingham.
