Residents of Bellingham will have a chance to get outdoors, enjoy the fresh air, and beautify the city at the same time.
Bellingham has several work parties scheduled throughout the community, aimed at restoring the environment. One such event is a Community Work Party that will take place at the Connelly Creek Nature Area, where volunteers will work to restore a vital stream habitat in the location. The precise site of the work is close to Donovan Avenue, at the Nature Area’s southern end.
The city is still mindful of ongoing health concerns, and for that reason, is limiting the event to ten volunteers, who will be working in two groups of five persons each. Anyone interested is required to RSVP so organizers can plan the day. In addition, strict guidelines for dealing with COVID-19 must be observed. These include wearing a mask and remaining the recommended distance apart. Organizers also ask that, if possible, people plan on staying for the entire length of the event.
The event is open to everyone of any age and ability, although those 14 or younger must be in the company of a parent or guardian. Hand sanitizer, gloves, and tools will be provided. Volunteers should dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear. Organizers can use banner printing to create Signs to help workers find the site at events like this.
The work part is scheduled for March 27 from 9.00 am until 12.00 pm.
