A bluegrass band is on the way to Bellingham, to start the new year off on the right note.
Yonder Mountain String Band (YMSB) is based in Colorado, and calls itself a progressive bluegrass group. Comprised of Allie Kral on violin, Adam Aijala on guitar, mandolin player Jacob Joliff, Dave Johnston on banjo, and Ben Kaufmann on bass, YMSB has been playing for 20 years, and has expanded the acoustic tradition found in the bluegrass genre by including elements of improvisation, as well as rock and roll. The band often plays its own music, and its performance changes from night to night as the group hones its craft on the road.
The band released its album “Love. Ain’t Love” in 2017. Rolling Stone’s review of the work said it was:
“…modern bluegrass punctuated by genre-jumping excursions into world music, reggae, and all points in between.”
All in all, the band has given more than 2,100 performances together, winning new fans and critical appreciation as they go. Poster printing can be used to create exciting advertisements for events like this, which fans might like to have as souvenirs.
Yonder Mountain String Band will appear at Bellingham’s Wild Buffalo on West Holly Street, starting at 8:00 am on January 15, 2020. The show is for audiences age 21 and above, and tickets are $27.50 in advance.
