An upcoming festival will allow people to enjoy their favorite beverage and support a great cause, all with the motto “Drink Beer for Good!”
Enthusiasts would probably argue that drinking beer is always good, but in this case, it’s made even better by the fact the money raised goes to support the Max Higbee Center and its Community Recreation Programs.
April Brews Day is the largest beer festival in Bellingham, drawing thousands of people to sample the products of dozens of cideries and breweries from throughout the Pacific Northwest. In addition to tracking down the best beer in the region, attendees will enjoy local food, live music, and more fun activities.
The first event was held in 2001. At that time, festival organizers got a wild idea that having a beer festival would be a good way to raise money. April Brews Day was born when the Max Higbee Center teamed up with Boundary Bay Brewery to create the event. It has since grown to become one of the major festivals in the region, and the culmination of Bellingham Beer Week.
The Max Higbee Center offers programs for those with developmental disabilities, including art classes, cooking classes, trail hikes, library visits, and more. The programs help to promote social inclusion, community access, personal growth, and health.
April Brews Day is scheduled for April 27, on the waterfront in Downtown Bellingham. When events like this are planned, organizers will often use flyer printing to create maps of the participants’ locations.
