A park in Bellingham has been recognized by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Waypoint Park, which is located in the Waterfront District, was recognized by the Seattle chapter of ASCE, which named it a recipient of a 2019 Local Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award. The award was presented to Parks Project Engineer Gina Austin, who accepted it on behalf of Bellingham. Banner printing can be used to provide decorations for celebrations like this.
This is the second time Waypoint Park, the first new park the city has developed in the Waterfront District, has been honored. ASCE has over 150,000 members worldwide, and is the oldest engineering society in the country. The organization is also the largest publisher of content about civil engineering in the world, and an authority on standards and codes for public protection.
The awards are given in honor of outstanding efforts in the following categories: Non-Construction Studies, Small Project Studies, Transportation and Development, Water Resources, Waterways and Ports, Structural, and Geotechnical. The Waypoint Park design team was headed by DPFF Consulting Engineers, as well as GeoEngineers, Aspect Consulting, Coastal Geologic Services, and Walker Macy.
Other parks in Washington State that won honors were the Smith Island Estuary Restoration Project in Everett; the Rhododendron Park Waterfront and Open Space in Kenmore; and the SR 520 West Approach Bridge-North, over Lake Washington in Seattle.
